Phoenix Physical Therapy, PLC, a private and contemporary practice, has a primary mission of treating patients who experience incontinence, pelvic pain, and/or pelvic floor dysfunction. Phoenix PT uses a very successful non-surgical technique that enables patients to live happier, more productive lives.
Phoenix PT’s treatment programs are offered
in a dignified setting that enhances the therapy
experience and helps to maximize the results of
treatment.
My name is Jane Kaufman and I am the Founder
and President of Phoenix PT.
My specialty is treating women and men who suffer
from incontinence, pelvic pain, and/or pelvic floor dysfunction.
My team of caring physical therapists offers
unique therapeutic techniques; implementing a broad
array of skills, acquired through substantial education,
practical training, and years of professional
experience. I
invite you to contact my office; your calls will be
answered personally. Either
I, or a member of my staff, will answer any questions
you may have prior to your initial visit.
A graduate of Ithaca College with a degree in
Physical Therapy, I have been practicing for three
decades, primarily in Vermont.
I have a Masters from the University of Vermont
and have been an Adjunct Associate Professor in the
University of Vermont’s Department of Physical Therapy
for more than twenty years.
I
am certified by the Biofeedback Certification
International Alliance in Pelvic Muscle Dysfunction
Biofeedback (PMD), one of only a handful of physical
therapists in the Northeast to hold this prestigious
certification. BCIA is the only institute recognized worldwide granting
certification to biofeedback practitioners.
BCIA was established in 1981 with the mission of
protecting the general public by establishing strict
standards for biofeedback practitioners.
In recent years, my work has focused on men’s
and women’s incontinence, pelvic pain, and pelvic floor dysfunction,
which are resolved through physical therapy
intervention. My
success in assisting men with prostate dysfunction and
women with a variety of incontinence issues, pelvic pain or pelvic floor dysfunction has made me
an authority and leader in this specialized area of
physical therapy. Phoenix
PT draws patients from throughout Vermont, neighboring
New Hampshire, and northeastern New York.
Pelvic floor problems are intimate issues, shared reluctantly,
if at all, with others, including patients’ own
physicians! These issues generally cause embarrassment, confinement,
discouragement, and can become quite debilitating,
creating a self-imposed burden on one’s life.
BUT, this need not be the case!

Through appropriate physical therapy intervention
with a highly skilled and caring therapist, the results
are astonishingly successful – without surgery!
It is my goal and my team’s goal at Phoenix
Physical Therapy to welcome patients into our private
and comfortable clinic, working with them in a
one-on-one partnership through a series of steps that
result in a substantial and often complete improvement
in their conditions. We
then send them back into the world they are accustomed
to, with new-found confidence and a package of life-long
skills to manage their problem.
Overcoming pelvic floor problems can be a challenge, but
working together, the overwhelming majority of patients
meet the challenge and have bright smiles on their faces
as a reward for their efforts.
These important aspects of my treatment program at
Phoenix Physical Therapy differentiate us from any other
practice:
·
We work with each individual in a relaxed,
private, dignified clinical environment, assuring that
every patient has all the understanding, training, and
tools he or she needs to successfully manage their
problem.
·
We use high-tech treatments in a format
known as Surface EMG Biofeedback to record a body’s
response to exercise and strength training.
By evaluating each individual’s muscular
response to treatment, we personalize a treatment
program for our patients, one at a time.
There is no “one size fits all” attitude
because treating incontinence requires a personal plan
for each patient.
·
Our treatment empowers our patients to
take control of their problem, overcoming incontinence, pelvic pain,
and/or pelvic floor dysfunction.
While the treatment is based on highly refined
scientific methodology, it is the environment of a
trusting partnership that enables the patient to take
charge and believe, “Yes I Can”!
In a nutshell, through Phoenix
Physical Therapy Services, clients achieve their
personal goals, learning the value of both physical
therapy rehabilitation and continuing exercise,
therefore achieving a greater feeling of complete
well-being that will last a lifetime!
